Cane basket weaving is the process by which unspun vegetable fibres are woven into baskets. The earliest evidence of woven baskets dates back to 12,000 years ago. Not only are they ideal for home storage, but they can also be used in shop displays, or as a picnic basket.
Basket weaving makes use of stakes, spokes and weavers. In India cane basket weaving is concentrated in the Northeast states of Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur and Assam.
